Students Visit Washington DC for Close Up
"From June 7-12, 5 Oswego East students attended the Close Up Washington DC program. Sophomores Alexis Henz, Emily McGreevy, and Kara Blasingame, and juniors Azul Weber and Erin Laird travelled to our Nation's Capitol to do an in-depth study of our government, and how the Constitution directly affects their lives. As part of this program, these students were able to participate in a congressional simulation, learn from policy makers, and even meet with members of Congressional staffs, as well as US Congressman Bill Foster. This trip was the first of its kind in School District 308, and much was learned about our Federal Government. It was a week full of sightseeing, but also a chance to be an active civic participant, as these young women saw first hand what democracy is all about. It was a week that they, and their chaperones Jim Vera and Jennifer Julian will never forget. These Wolves represented Oswego East and their community very well, and we are very proud of them!"
